Connecting with FileZilla
When it comes to graphical FTP clients, it's hard to find a better one for the cost than FileZilla. What's neat about FileZilla is that it works with just about every operating system and it's super easy to use.
Installing FileZilla
Windows and Mac OS X
- Download FileZilla from the from the FileZilla project page.
- Double-click on the downloaded file to install.
Linux / Unix
It goes without saying, but X is a requirement for FileZilla. If you have an X server running then you are probably good to go.

Installing FileZilla may be as simple as using your package management system. Depending on your flavor of *nix, enter one of the following into a terminal:
- Ubuntu
sudo apt-get install filezilla- CentOS / Fedora / RHEL
sudo yum install filezilla- OpenSuSE / SLES

sudo zypper install filezilla - Other Flavors of *nix

Once downloaded, compilation and installation follows the typical GNU Automake flow:
./configuremakesudo make install - @#?! It Doesn't Work!

Connecting with the Quickconnect Toolbar
Once you have FileZilla installed, you'll want to get connected. All that you need to do is to enter the following into the Quickconnect toolbar and click the Quickconnect button:
- Host: Enter your EVBackup account name
- Username: Enter your EVBackup username
- Password: Enter your EVBackup password
- Port: This is optional, but enter 22 to use SFTP.
When you see files appear on the right-hand side of the window, you are connected!
Transferring Files in FileZilla
The File Manager takes up most of the space in FileZilla's window. It's divided into to panes: the Local Site and the Remote Site. The Local Site is the left-hand side of the window, and contains the files on your computer. The Remote Site is the right-hand side of the window, and shows the files on your EVBackup account.
To Transfer Files
- Select the files and/or folders to transfer
- Drag the selected files from one side of window to the other.
- Downloading involves moving folders from the right-hand side to the left hand side.
- Uploading involves moving folders from the left-hand side to the right-hand side.
Connecting With Other FTP Clients
FileZilla isn't the only FTP client that you can use to connect to your EVBackup account. In fact, you can connect with just about FTP client that supports FTP, SFTP, or FTP-SSL (explicit) connections.
